J-K Manoj Sinha Reports Cryptocurrency Use in Narco Transactions
SRINAGAR, April 18: As the dark web becomes the new drug trade marketplace, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha of Jammu and Kashmir claimed on Friday that bitcoin is being utilized in narco transactions.
Speaking at the passing out parade at the Police Training School in Manigam, in the Ganderbal district of central Kashmir, Sinha stated that the use of new technology outside of training schools and the improvement of skills to meet the challenges posed by adversaries are urgently needed because technology is changing at a very fast rate.

“The danger of drug smuggling has evolved from its traditional form. Communication methods used by narco-terrorists and smugglers are evolving daily. The dark web is becoming the new drug trading bazaar.
… traditional transactions are being replaced by cryptocurrencies,” Sinha stated.
According to the LG, the abuse of modern technology has led to an upsurge in both organized crime and cybercrime cases.
To stay one step ahead of the crooks in such a scenario, you must establish a policy of constant innovation. Assuring that the central government and the J-K administration fully support the security forces, he added, “I hope the J-K Police force is committed and prepared to tackle all these challenges.”
Sinha expressed gratitude to the security forces for significantly reducing terror events in Kashmir and claimed that efforts were underway to resurrect terrorism in the Jammu area.
“The J-K Police, Army, and other security forces have been largely successful in containing terrorism in the Kashmir valley in recent years. The Jammu region, which was relatively tranquil, is seeing attempts to resurrect terrorism. I trust the J-K Police. The J-K Police and other security forces are united in their determination to eradicate terror from the Jammu and Kashmir territories,” he stated.
“You will repeat that resolve in Jammu,” the LG added, expressing confidence in the security forces’ ability to curb terror incidents in the Kashmir valley.
To overcome the plot of the neighboring country, all the agencies must work as a cohesive unit,” he continued.
He claimed that the Jammu and Kashmir Police must be transformed into a technologically advanced, future-ready force that can handle the growing threats of crime and terrorism.
“J-K Police has a great deal of responsibility, which sets it apart from other agencies in the nation. While our courageous soldiers must contend with terrorism, they also should uphold law and order and contribute to the development of a positive environment in J-K. Over the past few years, Sinha stated, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have demonstrated commendable performance in terms of real-time intelligence sharing and prompt response.
“I’m hoping that the combination of unique intelligence, cutting-edge technology, and particular strategy will finally put an end to terrorism and its entire network of supporters. The efficient use of technology will be crucial to the future success of anti-terror operations and (maintenance of) law and order missions, he continued. (Agenciese)
