PM states India has more than 2,500 political parties, creating a buzz in the Ghana Parliament
During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to Ghana’s Parliament on Thursday, there was a moment of mutual astonishment and grins when he remarked, “India has over 2,500 political parties,” taking a pause to grin as whispers spread throughout the chamber.

He emphasized that the immense diversity of India is a strength for its democratic structure. “Twenty parties in power across various states, 22 recognized languages, and a multitude of dialects. He stated that this is why individuals arriving in India have consistently been greeted with open hearts.
“The same spirit assists Indians in integrating easily wherever they go,” added PM Modi.
After Prime Minister Modi’s speech, Ghanaian Parliament Speaker Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin echoed the enormous number of “2,500 political parties,” prompting laughter from both Ghanaian MPs and PM Modi.After his address to the Ghana Parliament, PM Modi greeted and shook hands with the MPs.
As part of his five-nation tour, PM Modi is visiting Ghana, marking the first Indian prime ministerial visit to the country in thirty years.
