Display, Hardware and Design
A 6.83-inch (2772 x 1240 pixel) 1.5K AMOLED screen with a 144 Hz adaptive refresh rate, 3000 Hz fast touch response, and 450 PPI is included on the OnePlus Nord 5. With a maximum brightness of 1800 nits, the display is brilliant. With a 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, it provides good color output, and sunlight legibility is also strong. Vibrant, Natural, and Pro screen color modes are available for selection. The nature tone display adapts to the lighting conditions in the surrounding area.
The phone’s high-frequency dimming technology operates at 3,840 Hz. The phone will automatically transition to PWM dimming mode in dark conditions when DC dimming is ineffective to maintain correct colors on display and provide a more comfortable viewing experience. For an even smoother touch experience, even with wet hands, Aqua Touch Aqua uses the HyperTouch algorithm. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.
Additionally, the phone supports HDR 10, which is compatible with Netflix and YouTube. There is an always-on display that provides notifications and relevant information throughout the day or on a predetermined schedule.
The phone’s new 50-megapixel aufocous camera is housed in a small punch hole. An earphone that serves as a supplementary speaker is located on the top edge above the display. It features an optical fingerprint scanner built into the screen.
Regarding button locations and ports, the power button and volume rockers are located on the right side. The new, customisable Plus Key has taken the role of the alert slider.
On the bottom are the loudspeaker grill, USB Type-C 2.0 port, dual SIM slot, and primary microphone. The IR blaster, speaker vent, and secondary microphone are located on top.
According to the manufacturer, the color Marble Sands was inspired by sunny beaches and features subtle platinum white shimmers that capture the beauty of organic movement.
Additionally, it is available in Dry Ice, a cold, serene, and refreshingly clean blue that is suggestive of glacial reflections on ocean surfaces.
According to OnePlus, the Phantom Grey’s matte black surface exudes confidence and depth. The phone is rated IP65 for protection to dust and splashes. Although the phone weighs 211g more than the Nord 4, this is acceptable given the massive 6800mAh battery.

The OxygenOS 15 camera user interface is well-known. Pro mode, tilt-shift, dual-view video, time-lapse, panorama, macro, slo-mo, and more are available. The front camera takes 50MP pictures, while the rear camera produces 12.5MP after pixel binning. The HDR process used here is the same as the
The huge 50MP sensor produced good daylight photos, and auto HDR improves dynamic range. Even in 4x mode, the zoom is good, however as you zoom in farther, the quality decreases. The portraits are really wonderfully done. Although it takes a few seconds to process, the night mode is helpful. A tripod mode is also available. Although the 8MP ultra-wide camera is respectable and offers a 3.5cm macro option, the quality of close-ups taken with the main camera is far superior, even though you can’t get too near.
Many details are brilliantly preserved by the 50MP focused front camera. Additionally, the front camera’s edge detection performs effectively in portrait mode.Overall, the camera is a huge improvement from the Nord 4.
Its front and rear cameras can capture videos in up to 4K at 60 frames per second. Slow motion 1080p at 120 frames per second is available, but only 1080p at 30 frames per second is possible in portrait mode when using the primary camera and d ultra-steady mode. Both OIS and EIS perform admirably.
Software, UI and Apps
The OnePlus Nord 5 comes pre-installed with OxygenOS 15, which is based on Android 15. It has the June 2025 Android security patch. The phone will receive six years of security upgrades and four Android updates, just like the previous model. New design elements, parallel processing, a reduction in system storage, updated icons, and AI capabilities like AI Reflection Eraser, AI Detail Boost, and AI Unblur are all included in OxygenOS 15.
You can search across apps like Settings, Files, and Notes using plain, ordinary English thanks to the AI-powered Intelligent Search function, which makes use of natural language processing. You may use three apps on one screen thanks to the open canvas feature.
You have to search the circle. The OxygenOS 15 AI Notes function, which automatically arranges notes, emphasizes important details, and improves readability, is also included. It can modify formality, add or subtract information, and even fix grammatical mistakes.
It has a number of pre-installed apps, including Netflix, Facebook, PhonePe, and LinkedIn, in addition to the standard selection of OnePlus and Google apps. These can be removed, but they reappear after the phone is reset. The app for the IR remote is helpful.
About 5GB of RAM is available when the default apps are running in the background, leaving you with 11.03GB of usable RAM out of the 12GB LPDDR5X RAM. Additionally, it contains a function called dynamic RAM expansion (DRE), which turns built-in storage into RAM. Up to 12GB of extra RAM can be expanded using this. You gain roughly 219.77GB of free storage out of 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. This is a downgrade because the Nord 4’s 256GB model at least included UFS 4.0 storage.
Plus Key and AI Plus Mind
You may select between ring, vibration, and quiet modes with the new Plus Key, which was first released with the OnePlus 13s. Customization also makes it possible to quickly access tools like the flashlight, camera, and translation. Additionally, you can program it to start AI Plus Mind, which stores your work for later access.
To prevent information overload, it enables users to store and arrange crucial on-screen data, such events, reservations, or listings, into a specific Mind Space.
AI Plus Mind goes beyond simple saving by using artificial intelligence to comprehend the context of content that has been stored. For instance, it can add event details straight to the user’s calendar by extracting them from an image or message. Users will be able to find saved material by asking natural language queries with AI Search.
