The attorney general of Idaho warns of an increase in bitcoin ATM frauds.
Idaho’s Boise An increase in bitcoin ATM frauds that target senior citizens has prompted Attorney General Raúl Labrador to issue a warning. Fake tech support calls and government impersonation schemes are common components of these scams.

“It’s probably a fraud, therefore you should report it right away if someone asks you to deposit money into a bitcoin ATM for any reason. “Being safe is always preferable to being sorry,” Labrador said.
Cryptocurrency losses in Idaho increased significantly, jumping from $19 million in 2023 to more than $35 million in 2024. Seniors remain the largest victim group.
Idaho residents who believe they’ve been contacted by scammers can report them online.
