U.S Seizes 145 Domains and Crypto Linked to BidenCash Darknet Marketplace

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia announced the seizure of approximately 145 darknet and clear web domains, along with cryptocurrency assets tied to the illegal BidenCash marketplace. The platform was used to facilitate the sale of stolen credit cards and personal data.

BidenCash launched in March 2022 and quickly grew, amassing over 117,000 users. It enabled the trafficking of more than 15 million stolen payment card records and personal information, generating more than $17 million in illicit revenue. Administrators charged fees on each transaction conducted through the site.

To promote its services, BidenCash released 3.3 million stolen credit card numbers for free between October 2022 and February 2023. The leaked data included card numbers, expiration dates, CVVs, names, addresses, emails, and phone numbers. The site also sold compromised login credentials used to gain unauthorized access to computers.

The seized domains are now redirected to servers controlled by U.S. law enforcement, effectively shutting down future operations of the marketplace. Federal authorities also secured court approval to seize cryptocurrency wallets used to collect proceeds from these illegal sales.

The seizure was announced by U.S. Attorney Erik S. Siebert, Secret Service Resident Agent in Charge John Szydlik (Frankfurt), and FBI Acting Special Agent in Charge Philip Russell (Albuquerque).

The investigation was led by the U.S. Secret Service’s Frankfurt Resident Office and Cyber Investigative Section, along with the FBI’s Albuquerque Field Office. The Department of Justice also acknowledged support from the Dutch National High Tech Crime Unit, The Shadowserver Foundation, and Searchlight Cyber.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Zoe Bedell is prosecuting the case.
